I got to thinking that the turkey is like the pig. Maybe you have heard of the fable about the chicken and the pig. The question was asked who is more committed to breakfast? The chicken gives its eggs, but the pig gives himself as bacon. So to the turkey gives of itself to nourish us, so we may live. Both the pig and the turkey give the ultimate - their Selves.
When returning home, I shared the experience of the turkey with my wife. She found our copy of Medicine Cards by Jamie Sams & David Carson. Card 31 is the Turkey. It talks of a native American tradition of give-away. This is the medicine that the Turkey gives to us. In this tradition, a tribal member gives away to the benefit of the "People". They will give everything they have. The message of the Turkey is to transcend above the ego to the enlightened. Know that Great Spirit is in each of us.
Most of our society today has forgotten (or never learned) the message of give-away. We are so blessed with all our material (wealth) abundance. It would seem that the game of accumulating the most is an ego game that does not help the "People". In the native tradition, those who claim more than their own share are considered crazy or selfish. Maybe it's time to look at the self. Our current game doesn't lead us to enlightenment.
Let us think about this Truth from the Turkey and take it into our heart. Those of us who practice abundance know that when we receive, we give to keep the flow going. If it isn't flowing, what can you give-away?
"Divine Love always has and Divine Love always will supply our every need".
You are loved and blessed.
